According to WWE Rumors & spoilers released ahead of SummerSlam, WWE has already finalized five additional WWE PPV events which are set to take place between now and next year. The list includes: Money in the Bank, A Night of Champions, Reclaiming Respect, Fatal 4-Way Match, and another title show. Another rumor includes a match between John Cena and Randy Orton. Both men are set to face off on August 13th at the Raw brand holiday event in New York. A few weeks later, WWE will be hosting another special titled show called “Wrestlemania Live.”
One other major WWE rumor centers around what might be the biggest match to take place in the company’s history. A source close to the situation tells us that Ric Flair is seriously contemplating challenging Randy Orton for the WWE heavyweight championship. Flair had originally planned on retirement after his match at SummerSlam, but he’s reportedly been giving professional wrestling workouts in order to get ready for his big shot. He’ll have to beat out a certain number of big names in the business, and then hope he can still hold the WWE heavyweight title. So far, he hasn’t indicated which matches he’s preparing for, but this latest rumor has him feeling optimistic.
Injuries sustained by some of WWE’s superstars during this year’s SummerSlam event have also caused a lot of backstage talk leading up to this year’s huge PPV event. Among those out injured were Big Show, Triple H, Randy Orton, and Braun Strowman. All are recovering from injuries and WWE sources tell us that all are in the best condition possible. But just because WWE is saying that there aren’t any new creative plans for these WWE Summerslam events doesn’t mean that they won’t be coming up with something new for the aforementioned bouts. As mentioned earlier, we’ve seen a lot of wrestlers step up to challenge Ric Flair, and if there’s a chance that someone can win the title right after losing it, you can expect WWE to make sure they give them every opportunity to do so.
Other current and former WWE stars who are getting ready for their Summerslam match include Sting, Randy Orton, and Batista. Vince McMahon confirmed during his latest interview with reporters that Sting is going to be working on his comeback after being away for several months. He also mentioned that he thought Batista was going to be a big part of the contest, but that he hadn’t figured out anything yet. When you add that Batista’s recent appearance on Raw with Carlito and his brutal attack on Randy Orton at SummerSlam, it’s pretty safe to assume that there will be some kind of big showdowns at this years Summerslam event.
There’s also word that WWE’s next Raw will feature a segment where Triple H will defend the WWE heavyweight championship against Brock Lesnar. It’s not totally clear what role Lesnar will have in the match as WWE has released very little information about what role he’ll have. Will he be a part of the audience interaction, or a commentator? We also know that Triple H will be working on his own Raw television series this summer, so how does this match factor into all of that? Only time will tell, but it seems like it’s a very possible move that could really turn the fortunes of WWE back to the top.
One other thing that came out of an interview with Vince McMahon was that he thinks World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns has been under a lot of pressure lately. That’s pretty much newsworthy, especially since Triple H just recently returned to the company and beat The Miz for the title. What isn’t so newsworthy is that The Miz is now out of the company and heading up to Raw for his own WWE contract. That means WWE must find a way to keep him on his own program so as to keep Roman Reigns as the main event presence he is known to be.
All of these points make sense when you look at the latest WWE rumor roundup. The reason that Vince McMahon has let Lesnar loose on the latest angle was because he needed someone to help him create a new angle for the company while Triple H is working on his own TV show. Lesnar is basically a big name heel in the wrestling scene right now, so he needs to have some star power behind him working behind the scenes if he wants to actually find some success with his Raw debut. The creative plans that Vince has for the next several months and years will be fascinating to see how this match plays out.
