A now-viral video on X (formerly Twitter), it’s a man gently cleaning a hippopotamus’s teeth and maintaining the animal’s smile. Yes, take a second to picture that.

The video showed a gigantic hippopotamus’s mouth wide open revealing some very impressive teeth. As the adorable video progresses, a caretaker is meticulously cleaning the hippopotamus’s teeth using a sponge-like toothbrush, kindly spraying some water from a pipe along the way. What drew the attention of social media more than the absurd cuteness of the hippos is that it behaved surprisingly calmly. Viewers also observed that another hippopotamus was patiently waiting for his turn to be cleaned.
Soon after the clip surfaced on the internet some social media users could not contain their excitement to jump into the comments section and bomb it with various reactions. Onlookers of the internet expressed their astonishment and thrill, through laughter and humour, from watching viewers and most could not believe the behaviour of the hippopotamus cleaning, although thought produced rather a unique insight into a mind-blowing behavioural observation.
