Searching for PT Bull: Whether the cattle keeper is small or big, everyone has the same desire that their cows and buffaloes should give as much milk as possible. The cows and buffaloes should fall sick less and the most important thing is that they should give birth every year. Due to this the number of animals also increases and milk is also available continuously. And by doing this, while the cost of animal husbandry comes down, the profit is also huge. And this happens only when there is a PT bull to impregnate the buffalo.
Even before the buffalo comes into heat, the cattlekeeper starts looking for a progeny-testing (PT) bull. From small to big cattle keepers, everyone wants to get the buffalo pregnant by a bull by spending some extra money. To earn more profit, he wants his buffalo to get pregnant by a bull only. But finding a PT bull is not that easy. A PT bull doesn’t need to be found in every city. Many times, the search for a PT bull is completed after leaving two or three cities nearby. If we believe the animal experts, then there are only one or two bulls among lakhs of bulls.
A PT bull is prepared after 8 to 10 years. The title of PT bull is not obtained just like that. A PT bull is made only after coming out of a competition between 15-20 bulls. Now artificial insemination is also done, so the cattle breeders are ready to spend a good amount of money to get the stock of semen of PT bull. Central Institute for Research on Buffalo (CIRB), Hisar, Haryana has two A-grade PT bulls M-29 and 4354.
A PT bull should have these three qualities.
Retired scientist of the Central Institute for Research on Buffalo (CIRB), Hisar, Haryana, Dr. Sajjan Singh told even the farmers that a breed improvement program is going on for cows and buffaloes in the country. Therefore, it is necessary that when cows and buffaloes are made pregnant, only bulls should be used. If there is no PT bull nearby, then cows and buffaloes can be made pregnant with the help of AI by bringing its semen stock. A bull must have three special things. Firstly, its daughters should give more milk. They should get pregnant and give birth on time every year. Thirdly, they should not have any genetic diseases.
PT bull is made after examining 80 to 100 buffaloes.
Dr. Sajjan Singh said that to make a normal bull into a PT bull, many other things are done along with food. Like the milk production of 80 to 100 buffaloes born from that bull is observed. Along with this, the rate at which it is giving birth (reproduction rate) is also examined. The bull is continuously tested. To prepare good PT bulls, only the male calves born from their daughters are prepared for the future. Money can also be earned by keeping PT bulls in the dairy farm. Today, a straw of semen of PT bull is available for 800 to 1000 rupees.
If you want quality semen, take care of the bull in this way.
