The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been provisionally identified as tuna fisheries. Along with tuna, there are some other fishes here, which are in demand in the domestic and international markets. Preparations are underway to create a seafood hub to take advantage of this store of fish, meet the demand of eaters, and change the lives of fishermen.

There are many benefits of eating fast-swimming tuna.

It is said that tuna fish swim much faster than other fish. Not only this but there are also many benefits to eating tuna. If we talk about bones, then calcium, vitamin D, and magnesium are found in excellent quantities in tuna. Therefore, eating tuna strengthens the bones. Tuna also contains a good amount of omega-3 fatty acids, so it also strengthens the heart. Tuna fish is also said to be beneficial for keeping the eyes healthy and losing weight.

These four tuna fish are found in Andaman.

The Andaman-Nicobar Islands are also called the bank of tuna fish. Tuna fish are found in large quantities here. According to fisheries experts, yellowfin tuna, skipjack tuna, big eye tuna, and neritic tuna are found here. But the surprising thing is that Indian tuna fish does not get as much price in the international market as tuna from other countries. Because tuna is caught in the deep sea it takes a lot of time to reach the market, which affects its quality.

Except for one or two, there is no country where tuna is not liked. If people get to eat tuna of their favorite species, they are ready to pay any price. According to fisheries experts, the price of tuna in the market ranges from Rs 150 to Rs 400-500 per kg. There is also a species of tuna which is sold at the rate of lakhs of rupees per kg. However, there is a ban on catching this tuna fish, which is worth lakhs and is found in sizes ranging from one to 15 feet.

However, the number of people who like cheap tuna is also not less. The Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department of the Government of India has started preparations to ensure that the eaters get fresh and their favorite species of tuna fish. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are proving to be a big center for this. It is worth noting that all types of tuna fish are found in large quantities in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the adjoining sea areas.
