What’s The Archies about?
The Archies is a coming-of-age musical that follows the lives of the community’s favorite group of kids, Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel, and Dilton. It is set in 1960s India in a fictional town called Riverdale. The peculiar Anglo-Indian community serves as the lens through which The Archies investigate friendship, independence, love, heartbreak, and rebellion.
These Archies will also leave their musical mark, much like their forebears did (the original Archies released the classic earworm “Sugar, Sugar”). The cast even gave the Tudum crowd a little preview of one of their concerts.

The Archies Release Date
On December 7, Netflix will release the film, which is based on the well-known American comics of the same name. The cast of The Archies made the official release date announcement live on a billboard on Mumbai’s Western Express Highway. A countdown clock that displays the number of days until the movie’s release may be seen on the billboard.

Making An Adaption
In an interview with Film Companion, Zoya discussed adapting work and stated, “When I was approached to do this, I didn’t want to do a modern perspective. First of all, Riverdale has succeeded. Second, I have no personal experience with Archies. My impression of Archies is of a simpler, more innocent, kinder era when little was more. I desired to return to that. Finding a method to make the comic’s core message relevant to today’s young adults was important to me.
In the film, Suhana will play Veronica Lodge, Agastya will play Archie Andrews and Khushi Kapoor will play Betty Cooper. Vedang Raina, Yuvraj Menda, Mihir Ahuja, and Aditi Dot will all play Reggie Mantle, Dilton Doiley, Jughead Jones, and Ethel Muggs, respectively.
Zoya Akhtar has directed
It is now Zoya Akhtar’s turn to star kids in ‘The Archies’ with hits like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD), Dil Dhadakne Do, and Gully Boy.
