According to poultry experts, chickens from one day old to five to 5.5 weeks old need heat in winter. Because in the initial days, chicks do not have feathers. Artificial methods are used to give heat to the chicks. Sometimes, chicks are heated even with electric bulbs.
According to poultry experts, chickens are very sensitive birds. They are unable to tolerate the fluctuations in the weather and soon fall ill. Sometimes, due to major changes in the weather, they even die. This is the reason why while opening a new poultry farm, the most attention is given to maintaining the temperature. Whether it is summer or winter. And if you are going to start a new poultry farm in winter for chicken, then first do some special work to maintain the temperature.
Because if this is not done or even a little carelessness is shown then the chickens can fall sick immediately. They can even die due to cold. There are many ways to maintain the temperature of the poultry farm. You can use any one of the methods according to the cost and availability of the farm.
This should be the temperature for chickens in December-January
Poultry experts say that it is very cold in December-January. According to the demand and need, one-day-old chicks are bought and kept in the poultry farm in both months. And when they become 30 to 35 and 40 days old, they are supplied to the market. But during this time, the biggest challenge is to protect the chicks from the cold. If the temperature inside the farm i.e. the place where the chicks are kept is 26 to 32 degrees Celsius, then there is no problem. But, if the temperature goes below 23 degrees, then problems arise for the chicks.
This is how you can keep the poultry farm warm in winter
Poultry expert Charanjit Singh said that to maintain the temperature in the poultry farm during winter, heat is provided to the chicks with a gas brooder, bamboo basket brooder, tin sheet brooder, petroleum gas, signs, coal, wooden pebbles, heater, etc. Heat can be provided by installing five 60-watt bulbs on 250 chicks. There are many ways to provide heat, but experts always advise that poultry farmers should adopt only those methods that fit their cost and are easily available.
