Indiana Firefighters Destroy Foundation To Rescue Tabby Cats Trapped For Six Days

On November 27, firefighters rescued tabby cats in Franklin, Indiana, who had somehow managed to get stuck between the foundation of a house and a yard.

Firefighters broke through the foundation of the house after local Johnson County cats alerted them to the trapped cat. The cat is believed to have been trapped in the awkward spot for about six days.

The news video was shared on the @ABCNews TikTok account and people are applauding these extraordinary firefighters.

One person commented: “God bless you all. I’m so happy to see this negative baby saved from suffering. “Thank you so much.” Another person added: “Poor baby. My heart hurts, but thank God he’s safe now.”

Someone replied: “Cats get into the strangest places. That poor baby.”

This is so real and thank goodness those extraordinary heroes were able to rescue the negative kitty! The nice part about this story is that the cat is home safe and sound now!

The Johnson County Community Cats Facebook page said, “Spelunker’s family saw her on the news and has returned home!!

When Mittens (aka Spelunker) went missing, her family was unsuccessful in finding her and as time went on, they began to worry for the worst. A family member saw a news story about Mittens’ rescue and alerted the family, who was able to contact us to help reunite her.

Mittens is now home safe and sound with her caving days behind her. We were also able to microchip her for her family in case she manages to get out and make some more negative life choices.”

Not every story has a happy ending, but we’re happy this one did!

As much as all of our cats love to stalk birds in our yard and roll around in the sun on a warm sidewalk, the indoors is the safest place for your cat. The average lifespan of an indoor cat is 10 to 20 years, although many can live into their 20s. Thus, their average lifespan far exceeds the meager 2 to 5 years that should generally be expected from the latter.

Indoor cats don’t get hit by cars, fall victim to predation from coyotes or dogs, or get into tussles with raccoons or other cats. They are less likely to get sick, and they can’t suffer due to inclement weather. Indoor cats also don’t run away or escape from their homes.

Plus, they can’t get stuck in strange places like the tabby cat above did.

If you want your kitty to have fun outdoors, remember to take him out for walks on a harness or build him a catio. You can also stroll your cat in a stroller or buy them a tent so they can fully enjoy the outdoors. As much as everyone wants our cats to have as much fun as possible, the top priority is keeping all our beloved furry friends safe!
