Just like humans, animals take time to find the right friends. Although it is heartbreaking to watch an innocent creature suffer abuse by their friends, it can lead them to where they need to be. That is what happened with this beautiful horse when his loving parents found it would be in his best interest to let him go.
No matter what, the sanctuary turned out to be the best place for him to recover and thrive. Surrounded by horses who understood him, he found companionship and a new fare on lifestyle.
What a difference love and friendship can make! Last year, The Gentle Barn (@thegentlebarn) received a call from Marley’s previous parents who were concerned about his health. He was an old horse with a lower back problem and was upset with other horses and had difficulty getting water and food.
This inspired this amazing horse to quickly lose weight and give hope. Luckily, she was taken to this beautiful sanctuary, where everyone helped her thrive. Now, she has made friends who take care of her and always has access to water and organic hay. In addition, she also gets treats, acupuncture, massages, a soft mattress, and baths before bedtime. In addition, she loves the attention and carrots from visitors on Sundays and has also developed a special bond with her older horse, Bonnie. Kindness and empathy are always key to improving the value of life.
Do Horses Also Experience Sadness?
Horse and Rider says that these majestic creatures can become depressed, just like humans. This can happen when they are constantly in a state of stress, which can include their physical fitness, living conditions, education status, boredom, and even feeding schedules. Signs of depression can include lethargy, changes in eating habits, poor coat, withdrawal, and changes in posture. With the right companion and circumstances, like this old horse, their emotional fitness can be greatly improved.
This story touched people’s hearts and inspired them to express their gratitude. One person responded, “He is so happy. Thank you for giving him an extraordinary home and life!” They have certainly provided him with a great lifestyle. Every other person shared, “This warms my heart. Thank God there are people like you in the world.” We can all be thankful that the world is better because of them.
This wonderful sanctuary gave this wonderful horse a second chance, and he is making the most of every moment. What a heartwarming reminder of how kindness can make a huge difference in a person’s life.
