Negligence in winter not only humans but also animals. Many types of seasonal diseases also surround us in this winter season. Many times, due to this cold, people even die. But it can be fought by adopting methods to protect from cold and changing the diet. The same thing applies to animals as well. If the temperature in the animal shed is kept according to the animal expert and the diet given throughout the day is changed, then the animals will neither fall sick in the severe cold nor will their production decrease.
Because every type of weather hurts animals. Whether it is cow-buffalo or sheep-goat, they come under stress due to adverse weather. Winter also has adverse effects on all types of animals, big and small. The loss of this has to be borne by the animal keeper in the form of less production.
This should be the diet of animals in winter:
- Include mustard oil in the diet given to animals.
- Mustard oil should be given two percent of the diet given to the animal.
- The animal should be given green fodder and dry fodder in plenty.
- The weight of grains in its diet should be increased according to the weight of the animal.
- Jaggery syrup can be given to animals up to five to ten percent.
- Green fodder should be given to animals at the time of milking in the evening.
- The drinking water of animals should be lukewarm or fresh from the borewell.
- To protect animals from the stress of cold, a 10 percent additional supplement can be given.
- Animals should be fed three to four times a day.
If the temperature is 10 to 20 degrees, then make the animal shed like this:
- The animal shed should be covered with thick curtains.
- Blowers and radiators can be used for warm air in the shed.
- The back of the animal should be covered with an empty sack or blanket.
- The animal’s bedding should be made of rubber sheet and dry.
- If the animal’s bedding is made of soil or sawdust, then it should be dry.
- The entire shed should be surrounded by a 5-foot-high wall on three sides.
- The animal shed should be constructed according to the climate of the area.
- The animal shed should be at least clean, convenient, and comfortable.
- The animals should be kept in open spaces as much as possible.
- Because of open space, the animals can roam around freely whenever they want.
- Roaming around in open space has a good effect on the production of the animal.
