More Than 30 Animals Rescued By Environmental Protection Organization
The helpline of the Resqink Association for Flora and Fauna Welfare (RAWW) has received 60 calls from citizens alerting about these creatures, said founder and president of the environmental protection organization Pawan Sharma.
Animals total of 33, including squirrels, monkeys, owls, parakeets, egrets, snakes, and turtles have been rescued and are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation,” said Sharma, who is the honorary wildlife ranger of the National Forest Department. These creatures, however, are rather distressed due to light and noise pollution.
Some of the creatures are so severely injured by the firecrackers that they will need lifelong care and may no longer be able to survive in their natural habitats, said veterinarian Dr Rina Dev.
People can call the forest helpline 1926 in case they come across animals in distress, Sharma said.
