Not to be mistaken with Fred (aka Ed), an animated kids’ movie created by Nickelodeon. However, it is different from the latter in that the latter has a lot more mature content. Both are made by the ever popular Mike De Luca. Fred: The Movie is an animated kids’ movie made by David A. Goodman and produced by Clay Robbins.
Although there aren’t any live-action characters in the film, we can say that the main character of the film is Fred. Fred is an orphan whose biological parents were killed in a plane crash. He was then raised in a cabin by animals until he was found by adults who took him away to live with them. There, he became a teenager where he met his friend Chuck. From there, the two grew close and started having adventures until Chuck went on to become a hunter, while Fred went into business for himself selling toys.
As the story goes, Chuck became so good at his job that he opened his own toy store and began to sell his unique creations. He even started to draw comics about them but not until he was discovered by an animation company. From there, he was given the chance to create more cartoons including one for Nickelodeon which is still running to this day. It seems that the relationship between him and Nickelodeon has stayed intact ever since and it’s obvious that both are very close to each other. If you’re a fan of the animation medium then you’re definitely going to love watching this movie.
The plot of the movie basically follows the life of Fred (voiced by Kevin Kline) and how he came to be an artist in the first place. He then went on to become a successful cartoon artist in spite of the rejection he got from other artists. We also get to know some of the other characters from his past like Spongebob Squarepants’ Patrick Star, Dora the Explorer’s Barnie, Brittle Bob and Mr. Incredible’s Dad. Apart from these characters, the movie also introduces new and interesting characters like the Bad Seed, an evil character who has an annoying tendency of turning everything into green except for him. In the end, he is transformed into a good character thanks to Spongebob’s help.
Aside from these characters, the movie also introduces us to the world of animation and introduces us to Spongebob Squarepants and his friends. The popularity of the series spawned a number of TV shows based on the same characters as well as movies. A large number of kids have grown up loving the series and have been avid fans ever since its creation. The question is, what made this movie become one of the most popular kid’s cartoon of all time?
Well, the movie has an amazing number of quotable lines. One of the most talked about lines in the movie is “pants off!” Everyone has probably heard this phrase before while watching a cartoon. However, the way this quote is delivered by Squidward makes it even more memorable. The way Squidward says the phrase implies that the wearer of the pants should get rid of his or her pants! The way the character utters this line makes it even more appropriate and endearing to children and grandchildren.
Another reason why the Fred the Movie franchise is so popular among children and grandchildren is because of the great story line. It is not only a story with lots of humor but it is also a story about friendship and family values. The lessons that are conveyed through this movie are things that are important in one’s everyday life. These lessons, combined with the incredibly funny acting skills of Will Ferrell, makes the movie one of the funniest films of all time.
A lot of people have criticized the movie for its violence. However, I think that some of the humor in the film may actually have a positive influence on some of the younger viewers. The movie will definitely have an effect on the younger audiences because most of them are probably not yet accustomed to seeing humorously violent movies. If they are exposed to it in a movie such as ‘The Princess and the Frog,’ it is likely that they will start to appreciate the violence a little more. The movie is not exactly a family friendly, but it does have a good balance of humor and romance. Therefore, I recommend that you take your children and grandchildren with you to watch ‘The Princess and the Frog’ when it comes to a family night.
